Disney World Coverage

| How good is the Verizon coverage in Disney World lately? Have they improved
the signal in the last year? Is it possible to get any coverage inside the
buildings? (We would always use them in the courtesy mode)

I was there the first week of this month; coverage inside buildings was
spotty, but outside buildings the coverage was more than adequate.

However, the use of phones is discouraged within the theme parks.

How do they discourage it? Does Mickey go around threatening to kick
your XXX if he sees you on a cell phone?:-)

I really have no intention of using it that much - only to locate our
friends at the end of the day. They have small children & will spend a lot
of time at the Magic Kingdom. Cell phones really deter from the whole
vacation atmosphere.

Real courteous... The phone doesn't ring, but people still hear
you talking/yelling on the phone.
It still amazes (*not* surprises) me, how many people couldn't
give a rat's XXX aabout anyone but themselves.

Curious how does talking to my kids on a cell phone differ greatly from
talking to my kids in person? Not that the conversation should include much
less interest anyone but them.

(Most) people tend not to speak softly while on a cell phone. If anything,
they speak louder and, consequently, are more disturbing to others.

VZW coverage is better than some other carriers - but, don't expect to
get a signal in all locations and expect less coverage indoors.
At the parks, your phone will go in and out of service as you walk
through some areas and into many atractions. At the end of the day, my
battery would be about half drained (presumably from searching for
signal) whereas that seldom happens at home.
I was able to get good signals indoors at the All Star Music and Sports
resorts as well as indoors at the Contemporary - but, not at the
Coronado Springs resort. It all depends on how close you are to the
perimeter of the property (there are very few towers on the Disney
property and I don't think any are VZW's) which is roughly twice the
size of Manhattan.
FWIW, while I got excellent indoor signals on both my phone and aircard
at my resort, many of my neighbors had to step outside their rooms to
get a signal. Don't know what carrier they had

| Somebody should tell the thousands of people using their phones, then. I
have found Verizon to have a decent signal most of the time. There are areas
in Orlando where you still roam (International Drive is one), so watch your
phone display or pay the price (like I did). I seemed to get a better signal
near I-4 and the Downtown Disney area. My guess would be the parks are
mostly North and away from the intersate from that point and possibly
further from a tower. For what I had to use a phone for while there it was
fine (rounding everyone up at the end, as you said).
