Any users of PTT in the NYC area care to comment on how there service works
in the metro area? I'm looking for current actual users for some feedback.
Also what phone do you use and how do you like it / recommend it? Thanks!

The PTT feature will work the same way in any location. Its entirely
dependent upon your verizon coverage.

The big issue is the 15 second delay when you hit the PTT button the
first time. This delay is present regardless of geographic location.

I was "lurking" (watching) your post to see what kind of responses you got.

The fact that, so far, you've only gotten one answer (and for the NYC
market, too!) tells me I made the right decision
not to burn my upgrade on a PTT phone YET.

I decided to wait 6 months to a year (I'm on a 1-yr contract), until a bunch
of people have had the chance to get on PTT. Seemed to me there'd be nobody
to talk to for a while, and I'm hoping Verizon decides to spec out some
Nextel-like (read Sturdy) Moto-phones soon. I went for a Kyocera Soho and am
very happy with it.

This isn't at all a criticism of your choice to opt for it. SOMEONE has to
get the ball rolling!!

Good Luck---see you next year on PTT!!!

Bob,

I have had the Verizon PTT service (T300p) now for about 1 month. I
have been testing it out with people from NY, FL, CA, and CHITown. I do
not know what people are talking about re: 15 seconds to connect. I
connect in about 3-5 seconds and 1-2 seconds volley time. This is
something that will only get better, plus Verizons service and phone
clarity are far better than Nextel. I have used Nextel and know people
on Nextel. I am getting my wife a phone next month LG 4700.

You will hear the beep as if the message is immediately sent. It
actually gets recorded on your phone, then the phone dials the receiver
and sends it up once a connection is made. The person receiving your
message will hear it 15 seconds later.

There is really no way to tell when someone receives your first message
unless they are right next to you.

I tested it out in the store. There was a 3-5 second delay.
