I've been with Verizon for over a year now and have yet to receive a
telemarketer call. I wonder how they could create a 411 directory
with out the telemarketer scum using the info.

I think VZW was the only carrier that chose not to
participate. They said it was for their customer's
privacy.

Sorry, I don't see VZW listed there.

I was on AT+T once for my regular and long distance. They called
WEEKLY YES WEEKLY about something. Thats why I dropped them LEAVE ME
ALONE IF I WANT SOMETHING I WILL CALL YOU. The last time they called
the lady would not take NO for a answer and it so ticked me off I was
screaming and did cancel the very next day. Fools they were because
otherwise the service was fine.
Verizion I have never been boithered by telemarketers

I've been with them for as long as they bought out GTE in Chicago, and
though no telemarketers have called my cell phone, Verizon has called
my landline phone with telemarketing calls several times in the last
few months.

Who called the landline? Verizon != Verizon Wireless.
I've always had the impression that Verizon is a lot less
"nice" than Verizon Wireless in relations with their customers.

I have never received a Verizon Wireless telemarketing call on my cell
phone, but at least 6 to my house, despite asking them to cease and desist.

Having read the article, you'll notice that Verizon Wireless is not included
in the group supporting the 411; but if you look carefully at the contract
page, they state pretty clearly that they will be using 3rd party folks to
market. I will stay on target, my cell phone has not been telemarketed to.

You handled it all wrong! She wanted to sell me ATT long distance for my
phone, so I AGREED! She had my number in front of her, of course, the
cellular number, and I confirmed she had it right. She opened my account
with ATT LD and put it all through, nice and neat and very friendly.

I wonder if they fired her when they found out what she'd done....???

Verizon doesn't operate here in SBC territory. It was Verizon Wireless,
trying to get us signed up for a new contract after the last one expired.
