hi

im on verizon (and prefer the sevice) and need a cell phone to allow me to
view my 3 hotmail accounts, call out without dropping calls, and send emails
from the road. in the running are the blackberry 7750 and the treo 600 or
650. money is not a huge concern. heres what i need in preference order:

- id need good phone reception up and down the major highways of america
(rtes 95, 81, 40, 90, 80, and 70 and live in the DC area
- id like good reception in the boonies between tennessee VA, NC, and GA.
- i do frequent text messaging
- id like web access to AOL Instant Messaging via AOL Express
- i prefer to live with a reasonable PIM (im used to palm)
- fair battery life is a small concern
- i dont care about pictures but then again, ive never tried using the
functionality

by giving up the analog roaming, how much am i losing in my ability to get
to mapquest whemn im outside fun places like rural west coast florida or
central kentuckuy?

thanks all. please take the time to help me and ill report back my findings!

I have had Palm devices in the past and now use the Blackberry 7250 through
Verizon. For more info on the differences between the Blackberry and Treo,
take a look at the following forums:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/

http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/for...hp?s=&forumid=7

http://howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=221

http://howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=51 - Verizon forum with info on
coverage

I'd say, go with the Blackberry and look at the 7250.

I have had the BlackBerry 7250 for a month now, the only way to describe it is
SWEET. No dropped calls, extremely good sound, bluetooth connectivity and usage
is awesome, surfing, e-mail all excellent. I use 411 for map information and
it is good. The only think i cannot stand is the low ringers and lack of many
different ringers available, but I guess it is all mute because the vibrate
function is terrific not only in the holster (by the way I bought a T-Mobile
horiontal leather case from E-bay designed for the HP pda and added two magnets
to it inside the leather) and the vibrate is super there too. Have been able
to download wallpaper and all. This is one hell of a device, dont know why i
never got it sooner.

Why did you post the same message three times? Please try to make only one
post in the future.

Thanks

Maybe he really likes his Blackberry.
Or maybe just a software problem.

Ignoring the obvious like "blue tooth", I'd say they are similar. While I
can not anticipate what others say, I'll offer this difference:

- treo is a great device, but the mail is a "pull" mail, which means you
need to schedule the mail to your device. If you loose your treo, the
information on the system remains.

- blackberry is a great device, but the mail is "pushed" to the unit. This
is a great corporate tool, and the mail comes to your device encrypted.
Also, if you subscribe to the blackberry service, and you loose your
blackberry, they can "delete" all the data on your blackberry remotely.
Also, the blackberry security server is actually in Canada. Not a problem
to me, just letting you know about it.

I'd say that is the biggest concern. Otherwise, I'm sure you'll get input
about which operating system, memory, features: generally I'd suggest which
ever "looks n feels" better to you is 1 part; the 2nd part is features that
you will use, not what we say in this forum. dr

so...i can assume both treo and blackberry allow for browsing to multiple
hotmail accounts, mapquest, and can handle AOL Instant Messaging?
