Verizon office kit-use it or no???

|
| I don't want to double post but I posted this question yesterday
and I haven't seen it come up yet, I figure sometging may have
gone wrong, I will try again.
I bought verizons mobile office kit with the softeare and cable
for my vx6100. I am wondering if I should use it or maybe just
return it and get a cable online and use bitpim like I did for
my vx4400? Verizon seems to have a rep here on the board for
crippling stuff in the hunt for profits. I don't know what kind
of functionality comes with their software vs bitpim. I did
plug in teh phone with their cable and ran bitpim, whick would
not access the phone properly. Windows detected it and asked to
indstall softeare, I did not do so. I did, however, install the
usb drivers from lg's web site.
If you can offer any advice I woould appreciate it. And, again,
I am sorry if this turns out to be a double post. I use
giganews and don't remember ever losing a post before.

| I think I saw a post somewhere that said Verizon's mobile office kit
wouldn't let you move images on and off the phone, you might want to
confirm that if that feature's important to you.

| Oh, and DrDan, does the vx6100 have a side button you can push when it
rings to send the call straight to voicemail? Thanks.

No I don't think so. My 4400 had a side key that did that and
would activate manner mode too. Thankfully they got rid of the
exterior manner mode button, but I didn't see the send to
voicemail button in a quick look at the manual.

I have VX4400 with a $3 ebay cable and with downloaded LG drivers on IBM
laptop with XP. I don't use bitpim or MOK. Connections in 1X areas are
usually at 105k actual speed as tested on toast.net.
BTW I have an unused MOK kit with VX4400 cable still in the box if
anyone is interested.

True with respect to the VX6100 MOK. I use Bitpim to transfer photos and ring tones.

| So what happened was I plugged in my old phone the 4400 copied
the phone book and then plugged in the 6100 and transfered the
files with no problem. Then I plugged in my wifes phone and
attempted to transfer the phonebook to her 6100. No good.
Bitpim would not recognize the phone. I tried everything.
Settings on teh phone, the computer, the software, rebooting,
reinstalling, repeating, re-everything. Nothing worked.
Plugged in my phone, no problem. So I figured what teh heck I
installed verizons phonebook manager, followed the instructions
and was able to transfer the phonebook from my 6100 to her 6100
without problems. The only wierd thing was after everytime I
wrote or read something to the phones, the phone would reboot.
Thanks to all who replied and provided much needed assistance.

Hi Richard,
I am interested in the kit you describe below if it is all I need
to allow my VX4400 to access the internet, Do you know if it will work?
(I confess to be somewhat stupid in this area)
The 4400 must have some design flaws. Many accesories don't seem
to work with it. Verizon no longer carries their "Mobile Office Kit"
for it and LG doesn't even list the 4400 on their website for
accesories.
