My beloved VX10 (I got used with 6K calls on it) has intermittent
display and ear sound, probably due to an intermittent flexible PC
connecting the 2 parts. For a while, I've gotten some extra life by
opening it up and putting small pieces of plastic (shims) against the
flexible PC connector inside the hinge and tried to reseat the small
connectors that attach each end to their respective PC board, but it
looks terminal this time (sound and graphics out most of the time).

I've been told by Verizon that they won't activate any more old VX10's
as they don't have the GPS-position circuit, and that this wan a new
rule since June 6 of this year. Has anyone else heard of this? If I get
another VX10 that works, and swap the main board (behind the keyboard)
will the phone still respond as the original serial number, or does that
information go with the display part?

Any other advice or repair suggestions?
Thanks. (if you want to email, omit the "omit" in the address)
