Yes you can and it works well once you learn how to use it

YES. I'm using the scala 500 BT headset. Even with the flip closed,
you can hit the control button on the headset and the built in voice
command will activate on the phone, letting you voice dial and complete
calls through the headset. It works wonderfully.

I'm not sure about the 850, but I did use the HS810 a while back while
on Sprint, with a Treo 650. Audio was decent, but the flip design was
very flimsy and broke easily.

Yes -- the phone permits "verbal dialing" either by digits or contact name.
The HS850 pairs very well with the E815.

I've been using an HS810 for almost a year with my V710 and haven't
experienced any problems with the flip.. And I turn it off and on a lot
since most of the time the headset is in the car and I normally flip the
headset off and leave it in the car when I go into a store or something, and
then flip it off and leave it in the car when I go in the house.

I really like the flip mike boom a lot and wouldn't want to go without it!

I have the E815 and HS850. Is there a way to check voicemail without
touching the phone (I have to press buttons to enter the PIN)?

You should be able to set up your voicemail dialing with pauses so that it
dials and enters the pin number automatically. I set up this with the name
of 'voicemail' and I set it up to dial '*86ppxxxx#' where xxxx is your pin
number. The pauses (two of them show as 'pp') you get by hitting the menu
key while entering the number into the phone and choosing 'pause' for each
pause that you want. I find that two of them are enough for me but some may
need more, depending on how quickly the voicemail answers.

So with my V710 and HS810 headset I just hit the button on the headset, say
'name dial' when prompted, then 'voicemail' for the name, and away it goes.
I have my voicemail set up so that it automatically plays new voicemail
without me having to hit any keys on the phone. Of course, if you need to
delete or save any voicemails, you'll have to have the phone open so that
you can use the keyboard.
