Author Dialing * (Star) Then Numbers

In trying to retrieve some info through Verizon`s #BAL and #MIN my girlfriend
was mistakenly hitting *BAL and *MIN.
*BAL rings American Airlines and *MIN was ringing Continental Airlines but I
just tried it again and it just gets a "wrong number" message.
We were wondering if these are part of a Verizon deal or just something the
airlines have despite which company you have.
Does anyone know of a list of * (star) + numbers posted somewhere?
Yeah, I`m bored and looking for something to do while sitting out this freakin'
hurricane.

Hmmm.. When I try *BAL or *MIN all I get is an overflow tone (rapid
high-low tones, like the French police cars).

In both cases I get "Welcome to Verizon Wireless. Your call cannot be
completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again. Zero
Zero Two Two, Zero One Two, Announcement Two."

I`m in the Smoky Mnt. Natl. Pk. section of Tn. I wonder if that makes a
difference?

When I signed on with Verizon 5 years ago, they gave me a list with my
signup package (which has since been thrown out). It was local to my
area, with local radio talk stations, traffic lines, etc on the *xxx
list.

*1 (traffic) worked in Boston but not in NY. In NY *road was traffic.

I'm assuming all the * codes are still local, as I still hear "call
sports radio blah blah for free by dialing *xxx on your Verizon
wireless phone" on the radio.

Try calling Verizon CS, they may still keep the local lists.
