e815 low battery life: howto stop ev-do?

| I'm running through my e815 bateery by 3pm. vzw tech guy
said it was because it keeps searching for ev-do. I really
like the phone, is there a way to turn ev-do?

It depends on where you are. In some locations, Verizon has been testing
EVDO and it cycles on and off constantly. This was certainly the case in
San Francisco and, until last Friday, battery life on e815s was dismal
unless you entered test mode and turned off EVDO. Now that EVDO is up and
running properly here, my battery life has gone from slight less than a day
to 4-5 days in standby.
