| You know, I thought about that. To avoid an "publicity" about what I did or
didn't do, I just said I did what I could. The point was still that no one
showed an interest. It didn't mean that people weren't helping other
people, it just meant what I said: no one replied to this one little post.
Nuff said. Hard to imagine that someone would take an act of kindness, and
think it self serving. Larry's story was a happy thought.... and if it
prompts someone else to do something great. If you think that story was
self-serving as well, then to each his own.
Hard to answer without saying what we do or don't do. But without any
fanfare, I did contact each of the major carriers, and ask if they can help.
Each said they had their own program going forward, and didn't need our
involvement. Not one asked for the lady's name. I guess when you are a
MAJOR, you focus on the big picture; getting your communications back and
running. Help the Red Cross and stuff like that. Sometimes it takes you /
me to help that person one-on-one.
Thinking about self-serving. Harry Chapin (now deceased) used to bring it
up at each of his concerts that he was helping with World Hunger. He said
how much of his money was going to help them, etc. Not once did I think
that self-serving, but as he said "putting your money, where your mouth is".
Yes, I like Harry's music.
Yes, absolutely, I did it for the right reasons. No problem with my
motives... and I don't mind you asking either. dr.
