| I've read through the manual for my new Mot V276 and I can't find any
way to remove the annoying "Verizon Wireless" banner from the screen
when I open the phone. I tried adding Text to the screen, but
sometimes it still reads Verizon. Help

Thats not a banner thats the "ERI". People would get in trouble when
they didn't check or see the little "r" or triangle roaming indicator on
the phone so they added the extra display line. The ERI will display any
of the following: "Verizon Wireless", "Extended Network" or "Roaming".

Ya no kidding, now that's NOT what he asked. We are all not that
stupid like you, and it IS annoying.
goto howardfourms.com and you'll learn how to remove it

What is really annoying is pompous asses who think that because they
supposedly know more than anyone else we should be glad for them
treating us like jerks. And instead of contributing you added
nothing.

We all do not know that, including myself, a very educated computer and
science nerd! Thanks for the info, I like scanning several forums to
keep up, not everyone is as smart as you, thank God.

Curious, what's annoying about the LCD on the outside of the phone
saying "Verizon Wireless" when you have the phone stuck to your ear
anyway? Most of the time that banner is there (on my E-815), the
phone is against my ear or I'm using the main screen, I couldn't care
less about what's displayed on the other side of the phone.
Similar argument to "I want to disable my DRLs, they're annoying".
What's annoying about them when you're BEHIND them and rarely look AT
them?

Along the same lines, I can't understand the fascination with screen savers.
While you're talking, you can't see them, and while you're not, well, do people
actually sit around and watch their screen savers? <g>

No, but in the days of CRTs, there was a purpose to screen savers. It
allowed you to leave the computer on, have a quicker return of the
picture (we're all in a rush, right?) and still not burn an image into
the phosphors on the inside of the tube. With the advent of LCDs,
they aren't as critical, LCDs return from sleep A LOT faster and have
VERY little risk of image burn. Plasma displays are still subject to
image burn...

I contributed what its actual function is of which the OP may not have
been aware. Exactly what is so annoying or distracting about the ERI?
