I suggest building in a pedimeter & compass into future cellphone.
Image the possiblities.
One idea I can now forget about...

Why not ask for a full-fledged GPS and altimeter/barometer also??
:-)

Depends if you're counting steps or children.

If it's children, perhaps you're wishing for a pedicure?

If John McCain gets the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination,
my vote for President will be a write-in for Jiang Zemin.

| They had combo GPS/Cell phone models. Chances are the basic AGPS built
into cell phones will only give location coordinates. Not sure exactly
what the currant Nextel models with advanced GPS mapping offer in the
way of distance tracking or a compass. Generally one can set the screen
to North up or track up on regular GPSr. Not sure how Nextel handles
their map displays. A handheld compass is always the best, no batteries
to die.
With a standalone GPSr you can do all kinds of distance/time/speed
tracking calculations automatically, and of course many have a compass
built in, some better than others.
Check out the Garmin 60cs for features or Nextel's web site for their
currant GPS implementation you can have with a cell phone, right now.
