VZW EVDO in LA Area
|

| Hi,
I was wondering whether any EVDO user in the Los Angeles area has noticed a
drop in speed lately.
Since yesterday morning my connection flipflops between a 1xEVDO connection
and a 1xRTT during any session. Signal strength, however, is solid at 3
bars - sometimes going up to 4 bars (max). This happens no matter where I
use the connection from, in this area.
Also, the connection seems to "freeze" sometimes, and the time required to
connect has increased from under 5 seconds to around 15 seconds or so!
Thanks for any insights.
Regards.

No....mine has been rock solid (PC-5220 card) in Downtown LA and San
Fernando Valley. Also fast in the West LA/Venice areas.
I sometimes use it to listen to streaming radio (and video from
www.wwltv.com) From New Orleans, LA.

| Hi,
Thanks very much for the response.
I tested the connection (I use the same PC5220 card) on my desktop (with a
PCMCIA-PCI adapter) and the connection was normal.
Judging from this, as well as your response, I am going to have my laptop
checked. It was working fine earlier - I too used to listen to streaming
radio and video (BBC, ABC - Australia, DW - Germany....)! My downloads
averaged around 50-70KB/sec - peaking sometimes at 125KB/sec.
Regards and thanks again.

| Hi,
The problem was in the laptop, not the VZW EVDO connection! A full uninstall
and re-install of the PC5220 as well as AccessManager solved it.
Thanks for reading my post.
Regards.
