I have seen several Motorola RazR V3 phones on Ebay. They are for Verizon
(CDMA) and some are going for less than you can buy one from a Verizon Store
or online. I am an existing customer and am wondering if I buy one of these
bargains, will the Verizon Store or a call to Verizon Wireless let me
program the phone to my existing number? Will there be a charge?

Thanks,
Karl

How was it $250 a couple months back when Verizon only started
carrying within the last month or so?

I don't know about deal from Verizon, since (knowing them) it will be
contingent upon the purchase of a 2 year agreement. As for getting a
cell phone off of ebay, I just got a new Treo off ebay for far less
than retail and am quite happy with it. However, I don't know about
getting a ESN switch online and not getting charged. A very good
friend of mine (who works for verizon) that they now have a mandatory
$20 charge to change an ESN. I'm sure he would have mentioned to me
that doing it online would be free, but I could be wrong. It is worth
a shot. But feel free to get a phone off ebay just as long as the ESN
number isn't stolen or DOA.

Your very good friend must be VERY stupid then, because you can do it
online totally for free. But hey he works for vzw so is he suppose to
know that?

The other day, I forgot my phone when I went to work. I went online to
reactivate my old phone (which I've been schlepping around in case I need
to look up a number I haven't programmed in the new one yet) and it was
rejected. Three times. I told me to call an 800 number, but I didn't
bother.

If your old phone is not a phone with 911 GPS they won't let you
activate it.

What model? Is it GPS capable?

I think the problem was, the other phone was on, or both phones could have
been on. I know when I've tried to change without turning off both phones,
it gets rejected.

That could be it. The new one was sitting here turned on.

For the record, the old one is a VX4400, definitely GPS capable. (Part of
the reason I got the new one was because my old old one, a Kyocera 2035,
wasn't GPS capable and could no longer serve as my backup.)

I am never able to change from an EVDO phone to a non-EVDO phone on the web
site (or vice versa)

But when I say I tried to use the online ESN swap they do it for free for
me.
