Americas Choice Value Plan
|

| I just added Verizons Value Plan for $3.99 to my Americas Choice Family
plan so I can make cheaper calls to and from Mexico. I am going to Cancun.
Has anyone had any experience with it regarding coverage and any additional
charges I might incur. Thanks

The coverage is quite good in the Cancun area. I've actually had more
capacity problems than coverage problems. But that's improving also.
The $3.99 add-on just gives you discounted calling from your home area
(AC) to particular international destinations. I believe it's 9.9 cents
for Mexico. But that only covers calls to Mexico, not calls while
roaming in Mexico. You will be charged 69 cents a minute, plus possible
long distance charges and tax.
The only way to get included roaming in Mexico is with the North
America's Choice plan. It might be worth temporarily switching to that
for the savings unless you have a grandfathered plan or are concerned
about extending your contract.

| Thanks for the information. I do have a grandfathered plan so I won't
switch. Its an America's Choice Family Plan 500 minutes for 59.95.

I roamed with my vzw phone in Cancun without a problem - it was v710 and
I'm not sure how much was analog but based on battery consumption it was a
lot. I never actually received calls but only used it to check my company
voicemail. Coverage was good.
