Some good news for the carriers, bad news for neighbors trying to block
cell towers in their neighborhoods.

Wow...now you can turn that unused back yard space into free cellular
phones for the whole family and your own cell site paying those big land
use fees to you!

I have a friend who has a cell tower on his farm that did just that. His
farm borders the interstate and they pay him a very nice yearly fee and
provide his whole family with cellphones and service with no time limits as
part of the sweet deal....

Probably tmobile, my buddy owns a building for his business and when
tmobile came into the area they made a deal with him which included free
phones. The only problem is that they have such a poor network it is
really difficult to get any value from the deal. Because of that he
uses VZW and the tmobile phones go largely unused. From other people I
know the better carriers don't offer such deals and don't pay the huge
rents that have become urban legends.

Isn't it interesting that it is usually the NIMBYs that call customer
support and complain about poor cell phone coverage. This is a major victory
for all call phone providers.

What cellular company is hosted on the farm cell tower?

I'd love to. Where do I sign up? Our house is close enough to an
interstate that it actually would fill a dead spot or two, if they put a
tower in our back yard. There's plenty of room back there, too. We'd STILL
have a huge back yard. :) -Dave

Perhaps in your area - I don't have that problem with T-Mo where I live.

No, this deal goes back into the AMPS bagphone days. He's been renting
space to them for a long time...(c;

I'm not really sure, now. There are 3 candelabras of antennas up there,
now. It used to be Cellular One back in the AMPS days.

It's interesting that California does not allow this, it happens often in
Michigan.
