Author Transfer number to a different phone?

I just bought an E815, and had them assign my cell number to it.

My old phone (VX4400) is better than my wife's phone (VX3100). Can I assign
my wife's number to the VX4400, or do I have to have that done by Verizon?

If *I* can do it... how?

TIA.

You can do it online. Login to verizonwireless.com into your account,
and there's a option I believe called "Upgrade phone" or "ESN Change".

Quick and simple. Takes about 10 min and then another 10 for Verizon's
computers to catch up and you're done. Hardest thing is reading that
number off the phone (under the battery usually)

Woo hoo! It was a lot simpler than I imagined. All done!

For anyone else wanting to know:

1. Take off your battery & write down the ESN or MEID number.

2. Log onto Verizon Wireless online.

3. Click on Acitvate a New Phone.

4. Under Existing or Replacement Equipment, click on Activate Equipment.

5. Choose thele phone number, a reason for change (I picked "Other"), and
provice the ESN/MEID number.

6. Click SUBMIT and follow the directions. Once done with the online bit,
you'll need to wait 5-10 minutes, then, on your cell phone, call *228 to
finish the process.

You can assign your phone numbers to a new cell phone on your
VerizonWireless account webpage by entering the new ESN of the new phone.
The change is immediate.
