sInce express network (now national access) was offered, i have
always had access to it, as well as the slower 14.4 connection. while
i use the high-speed connection rarely, just a few times a year, it
has always been an important feature of my plan. i used it as
recently as three weeks ago.

two weeks ago, i purchased the nokia 6256i, a terrific phone, the
best verizon phone i have owned. i was a able to get the slow
connection working immediately (#777, qnc/qnc) but kept getting
disconnected from the high speed (#777 xxxxxxxxxx@vzw3g.com/vzw).

today i finally called customer service.

imagine my surprise when i was told that the high-speed access was
now only available to people who purchased the data plan. when i
pointed out that i had been using it for years, the rep said that
eventually all those accounts would be locked out.

what a bummer.
