Does anyone know if there's a way to set the Razr 3M so that the
bluetooth automatically powers on when it detects a bluetooth-capable
device? I'd like to find a way that I don't have to manually turn on the
bluetooth whenever I get into my car. Thanks!

You have a choice - either leave BT on all the time, or manually switch it
on/off. Depending on the car bluetooth setup, it will automatically
reconnect if previously paired. I have no problem leaving my BT on all the
time.

Won't that impact battery life? Ie shorter times because BT is active?

Thanks, but these do not control whether the phone is automatically
recognized.

The manual for the V3m specifically says "to extend battery life set
bluetooth power to off when not in use". What I miss is being able to
create a shortcut to toggle Bluetooth on/off. I was able to do this on the
e815, but you can't do it on the RAZR as far as I can tell.

No. It would have to have the bluetooth on to recognize a bluetooth
device.

Think about what you are asking...how can BT detect another device
unless it is turned on?

My RAZR broadcasts its BTID for 5 minutes when you turn it on to save
power.

So exactly what does this do? Seems to me that it allows the down key to
be set as your bluetooth on/off key? Still doesn't detect a bluetooth
signal automatically.

What I am finding is when I set up my Razr using the second sequence
below, the bluetooth symbol on my Razr does not stay on all the time,
but only appears when it comes close to a Bluetooth device. This is kind
of what I wanted to begin with ... although I suspect it means that the
bluetooth feature on the phone is on all the time (even though the
symbol doesn't appear).
