Is there a way to activate an old non 911/GPS cellphone on Verizon
wireless?
Be creative? Argue that my original contract was for a non 911 phone?
Any ideas about cutomers who had one before this law went into effect?
Can I waive my 911 rights? BTW, was this law passed for legitamate
public safety concerns or for better surveillence of the populace like
'The Patriot Act'?

No.

Verizon won't even let it on to their network. It has to be E-911
compliant, which you won't get without a GPS locator chip. The
system's designed to weed out non-compliant E-911 models. It won't
even add them. That's important because every phone number is
associated with the ESN of your phone. You won't get service without
Verizon's system making that association, which it won't do for the
older models.

You're pretty screwed on this one. Sorry.
