Author A670 Samsung Display (switch?) Tech Fix needed

I have an A670. THe display only works wit the cover open half way. If
I close`it halfway, it blanks out. I'm wondering if there is a known
issue/fix. I pulled it apart and pushed the ribbon connector in a bit
but it had no effect.

I'm thinking now that it might be the switch that shuts off the
display when you close the phone as it is very predictable in
operation - open it halfway, it's fine, a smidge more, off, a smidge
back, it's on.

Before I pull it apart and just hunt again I was hoping someone would
have a pointer to a problem/fix.

Thanks,

There's a data cable that connects the cover to the body of the phone
that gets loose. You can try to see if that is loose and needs to be
re-seated. I've had 3 A670s with this problem. It was only a temporary
fix, as they eventually got loose again and I sent them to cell phone
heaven.

I did try sort of pushing that back into the connector with tweezers
but it did not help. Is there another way to "re-seat" them ?
