Turninging off the "Missed Call" noise on a VX8300

Is there a way to turn off the annoying "Missed Call" sound that the VX8300
makes?
I'm using this phone in parallel with my regular Vonage phone. They both ring
when the Vonage number is called. If I pick up the regular phone, the VX8300
makes it's annoying noise.
Perhaps there's a switch somewhere in the new firmware upgrade (which I haven't
got yet).

There is a ringtone called "No Ring" that can be set as an alert tone...
Go to "My Ringtones" scroll to the ringtone named "No Ring" you will
also see an option in the bottom left corner to "Set As" choose "Alert
Sound" from this menu, But it doesn't list "Missed Call" as an option,
hmm?

Geez, i had forgotten how i did this till just now.
From the Settings & Tools menu choose Sounds Settings then Alarm Sounds
then Tone, from here select the ringtone you wish to use for your alert
sound which in your case would be the "No Ring" Now your phone should
notify you via Graphic Icons for any missed calls.
I think i've got this right, hope it helps.

Thanks for this info.
Tried it, but it doesn't seem to affect the "missed call" sound.
You have to wonder why they even have this sound. After all, you can hear the
phone ringing. And you can hear the phone stop ringing if you miss the call.
What were they thinking?

I wonder if the update addresses this?

| Tony,
Just goes to show you how different people's needs are.
Lack of a missed call beep would be a deal-killer for me with a phone.
I spend most of my day in the car. When I get out of the car, I have to
leave the phone, can't take it with me. The missed call beep reminds me to
check the phone if a call came in while I was out.
It would be easy to say "change your habits, and you wouldn't need the
beep", but as long as there are phones WITH the reminder, I will choose from
them. Conversely, if the beep is a deal-killer for someone, they need to
choose from phones which have the ability to turn it off.
I presume when you ask "What were they thinking?", that you mean what were
they thinking when they didn't offer you the option of turning the beep off.
I agree. More options are almost always better than less.

Dean,
This one doesn't beep like the voicemail, to alert you later that a message
arrived.
It beeps at the exact instant the phone stops ringing. It basically says: The
phone just stopped ringing (duh). If you couldn't hear the phone ringing, you
won't hear the beep.
All you get later on is an icon at the bottom of the screen. No audio alert.
So, from the way you describe your needs, this phone would be a deal-breaker
for you.

| Yeah, I'm with you. I have certain numbers setup for no ring because I don't
want to be interrupted by these specific numbers. When one of these numbers
call in, there is no ring. I like that. BUT, then the damned missed call
alarm beeps. Really pisses me off that it can't be turned off for that
number. After all, text messages and voicemail aerts can be turned off for
those select numbers. But not the missed call beep. I have an LG VX8000.
