LG 6000 to the LG V

| I'm now up for my NE2 and am considering upgrading from the LG VX6000
(good phone for me) to the LG "V" (9800) but I would like to ask a few
questions here if anyone can help me out...
1. Reviews for the V are good; anyone have one and what do you think of
it?
2. Would any of my LG accessories for the 6000 work for this phone? I'm
especially concerned about the data cable and Bitpim working.
3. I'm told I will need to change from my current plan, "Digital
Choice" to "America's Choice" (new version I'm sure) and I'm wondering
if this is true... I'd go from 500 minutes to 450 and national use
instead of just in Georgia where I live. I'm concerned that I won't be
able to use the phone with my laptop as I do the 6000 on rare
occassions...any thoughts on this?
4. Other helpful comments are welcome.
Thanks for any help.

| I have the VX9800 and like it a lot. From what I've read at
howardforums.com, you should be able to use your 6000 cables and
accessories with the 9800, but check there for sure (I had a Nokia
before, so I didn't bother looking). I use a Bluetooth adaptor with
mine, just as a backup for broadband service, but I'm considering
getting the EVDO data plan if they upgrade the towers in my area. I
don't use the vcast stuff (it isn't available in my area, and I don't
see the point of playing videos on my phone anyway), but I use the MP3
player all the time with a 1GB flashcard. It is much faster to transfer
to and from the card with a stand-alone reader (usb2). The flip feature
is very nice, although it tends to catch on my coat and open up when
getting in/out of cars, etc. The camera is not bad, but is a little too
wide angle for my uses, but is useful just because it is there. I'd
like to see a way to record video directly to the flashcard (or a
longer than 15 sec buffer), but most still cameras only record 15
seconds at a time, so it isn't all that big a deal.
Be prepared to pay for accessories. The wired stereo headset cost about
$30, and doesn't sound all that great. I got a 4 pin to 3 pin stereo
adaptor on the Internet for about $7 from Samsung USA (most places
that had it for $4 didn't have it in stock and/or charged for shipping)
and I'm now able to use my old reliable Sony headphones, although the
VZ headset has an answer button and a microphone. The stock battery is
great for a phone, but not so much for hours of MP3 playback. The
extended life battery is about $60, but will run the phone for a week
of moderate use (or all day mp3 playback). The belt clip was (if memory
serves) about $20. The bluetooth stuff is cool, but again, very
expensive and the earpieces I tried are not all that comfortable.
The only real disappoitment to this phone has been Verizon's lousy
software. Because they use BREW instead of Java, we don't get access to
google maps, decent chat systems, games, etc. And everything they have
available has a charge associated with it. I realize they are in
business to make money, but when I see this phone I see all sorts of
possibilites for third party applications, that could be installed via
the flashcard, but VZ would never allow that to happen. That, and it
was designed and first presented as a text messager's dream, but VZ's
text plans suck.
However, the buit-in calendar and notepad are very useful, and will
sync up with bitpim (over bluetooth!). One thing I've used sucessfully
is the business card reader. It does work, and is sort of neat, but the
phone doesn't store enough fields (company name, for example) and
doesn't capture addresses. I think they might be trying to keep it from
becoming a poor man's Blackberry. Of course, it is the standard Verizon
contact manager software, so I'm sure it has something to do with the
memory requirements of a lesser phone.
