i hear the v710 phones are disabled from transferring files via phone
tools and the data cable, and the only way you can xfer them is via a
trans-flash card.

if you have the card, how do you move your videos/pictures, etc, onto
it, on the phone?

can you use the t-flash card to transfer games/apps to your phone as
well?

much appreciated

This is copied from a Howard forums thread. Works for me to transfer
pictures and midi ringtones to my 710. First copy the file to the
transflash card and do the following. Not sure if it works for games

In Message Center choose: Create Message/New Pix Message.

The To: dialoge box comes up. I use a bogus number such as
222-222-2222.

Now you are in Message Body. Choose Insert/Sound. You will probably
get the annoying Chain Link.mp3 as default.

Hit menu (the middle soft key). Select Switch Storage Device . Select
Trans Flash. Select your mp3 file.

Now you are back to message body. Select OK. Then select Send. Your
message will attempt to go out, but will fail because of the bogus
message address.

After you get the Unable to Send message, go to your Outbox. Read the
failed message you just tried to send.

You will hear your mp3 when you open the message. Select Menu (middle
soft key).

Select Save Items. Under Save What? , Select File.

The mp3 will play again. Select Store.

Under Storage Devices choose Phone.

You have now moved an mp3 from your TF Card to Phone. It looks rather
convoluted, but is easy to do after a couple of transfers.

You simply use a card reader that works with secure digital cards to
transfer files back and forth. All transflash cards that I know of come with
an adapter that converts the TF card into the SD form factor. I've used
this setup to move pics/ringers to from both my V710 and E815 with no
problems (well, it's a bit harder to do it with the sound files on the 815,
but not that hard).

No games/apps though, since the V710 doesn't use the types of games that
could be tranferred. But then did you buy the phone to use as a phone? Or to
play games ????

How would you transfer pics / videos OFF of the v710 onto the t-flash
card, from within the phone?

Are these stored in a standard format (ie jpeg for pics, mjpeg or
quicktime or mpeg2 for videos) ?

Thanks

You just copy or move them from the phone to the card... The pics are
standard jpeg format and the videos are in some other format (I forget what
it is, since I don't use the video much since it's such low quality). I
don't use the phone camera really at all since it is again of very low
quality and I have a very good digital camera (FZ30). I do use the
transflash card to put pictures that I have edited (cropped and resized to
176w x 220h pixel dimensions) on the phone. I use those for both picture
caller ID and also wallpaper and they are mostly pics that I have taken over
the years of family members, friends, etc..
