New software update for 700W
|
|
|
| Have any brave souls loaded the new update yet? Any potential disasters I
should look out for? The improvements seem related primarily to email,
although there isn't a comprehensive list of changes that I can find other
than this short list:
=============
The Palm® TreoT 700w Updater 1.10 for Verizon Wireless includes the
following enhancements for your smartphone:
a.. Includes Microsoft®'s Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) with
Direct Push Technology¹ for automatic wireless synchronization of email,
calendar, contacts and, now, tasks² (learn more)
b.. Enhances email capabilities for more support of push email solutions,
such as WirelessSync and GoodLinkT, and of synchronization capabilities,
such as the ability to maintain an "always on" data connection after POP or
IMAP email synchronization and the ability to auto-synchronize all email
accounts based on user setting².
c.. Updated memory management
d.. Pictures and Videos enhancements
e.. New Wireless Manager provides an updated interface for turning
wireless radios on and off on your 700w smartphone
1 - Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) upgrade required for Direct
Push Technology.
2 - Within wireless coverage area only. Email and web require data services
from a mobile service provider at an additional cost. ISP and/or VPN may
also be required.
=============
Maybe the "updated memory management" will help with the obligatory weekly
soft-reset.

My phone crashes / locks up daily.
May I ask where you found this update.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, when I checked this today, I got the following error page:
"temporarily unavailable - we anticipate that the Treo 700W updater will be
available at a later date"
Not very comforting. I think I'll sit on the update for a while until they
issue version 1.0a. :-)

Ok. Thank you! I was looking all over for it. :>0
The main support page for the Treo 700w also lists a download for the
Bluetooth Plug-in.
However, that link has always been to a description of how important it is,
but no actual program.
So far, I am not very impressed with this phone.
Thanks again though. :> )

| The update works fine for me. I was trying to solve sync issue and found the
update and it took almost 30 minutes to install. The problem didn't solve my
sync issue...but doing a hard reset and blowing away all of my personal data
makes it sync and only semi-sluggish...just like new!
