Author e815 menus?
ksmyer@gmail.com

I am looking for a new phone/plan, and I'd like to go with Verizon
because their coverage is the best in the DC area;however, I can't
stand their new menu system. My bf has a Razr with the new UI, and
it's awful.

I've read online that the e815 doesn't have the horrible Verizon UI.
Can someone verify that for me? I'm looking for someone who has
purchased it recently, preferably over the phone, to confirm this. I
have spoken to 4 different Verizon employees today and gotten 4
different answers.

The store has e815s with the Motorola menus, but I can't purchase in a
store b/c I am moving and need to get a phone number with a different
area code. My only option is to purchase the phone over the phone with
Verizion, but no one there can tell me whether it will have the
Motorola menus or the Verizion menus (blech.)

Thanks for any help you can give!
Katie

I cannot imagine that it comes with the Verizon UI. I truly think even the
"new" ones will have the Moto UI.

What makes you say that? Half the Verizon people I spoke with (seven
in all) said "all phones ship with the Verizion UI"

Of course, I'd be delighted if you were right!

Well, I got one replaced just 4 days ago in the store and it had the Moto
UI.

Really.Anymore I can't imagine Verizon selling a contract/phone without
using their UI.

I think you,unfortunately,mu
st resign yourself to that being the case.

That's super news, thanks!

You may be right, but have you asked or are you just assuming that you can't
purchase a phone in your current area with a completely different area code?
The reason I think you probably can is that a customer can walk in to any
Verizon store in the country and get a replacement (if need be) for their
"broken" phone. I know I could have done this when I was in Las Vegas a
week ago and having phone issues, eventhough I live on the east coast.

I've asked. They can only set up a local number in a store. I can't
get a non-local number via the website either. It's annoying.
Especially because we are adding a line to an exisiting 202 (DC)
account...

I'm hoping I can order it via phone with Verizon, and if it doesn't
have the Motorola menus, I can then take it to a VW store and exchange
it for one that does. <crossing fingers>

Good luck! I think I can get used to the Verizon UI, but I don't like all
the red.

I would love to get a new phone that will not require Verizon's UI.

But what would be "super" is you reporting back that is in fact...fact.

Thanks Will!

Did she order it online, via phone, or pick up in the store?

They all seem to answer me differently, depending whom I ask :)

The E815 is the last Verizon phone to NOT come with the V UI. Having said
that, they do still have the V710 in stock (as of this week) and although
very similar, get the 710 if you can. It was offered to me @ $99 with
contract, $219 without. It does analog, has better sound in calls, and also
no V UI. No EVDO, however. I have both, and the 815 is a very good second
choice. I also don't like the new UI.

Where/how did she get the phone? I could have "got one this week" but not
from Verizon.

She got it in the store - the display models also had the Moto UI.

She got it from the Verizon store. As I mentioned in another, the display
models all
had the Moto UI too.

Did you try calling? It was available via Verizon by phone.

I may just go with Cingluar. As much as I hate to do it, I'm angry
with Verizon for jacking all their phones.

Okay, call me stupid but how do you tell which UI you have?
ksmyer@gmail.com

If your menus are red, slow, and non-intuitive, you're stuck with the
Verizion UI and menus.
