|
|
| info@businesms.com 2006-04-22, 5:48 pm |
| Hello all,
We are looking for some beta testers for a new PC to phone messaging
application.
The requirements are:
1. Multimedia/MMS/picture messaging account with Verizon
2. Windows XP/Windows 2000
3. Tethered phone via USB/BlueTooth/InfraRed or CDMA modem
We will reimburse you for all your MMS messages sent (payments made via
PayPal).
If you would like to participate in this program, please contact us at
our website via the contact form at http://www.businesms.com
Only serious testers should apply. Note that we will require a contact
phone number so that we can follow up and discuss the program with you
in further detail.
We are experiencing strong interest in a number of countries, so if you
are truly interested please contact us as soon as possible - we will
only be accepting a very small number of entries.
Thanks for listening,
David Harrington.

Hmmm. Give you all my contact information for a 'beta' program. What's your
privacy policy?

I'm always leary of anything that has the "HURRY! limited
supply going fast! get your's now!"... come on.

I never mail in those "mail-in rebates" - that's how they get you - they
sell your name and address to the junk mail list that spams the nation!

Then they file for Chapter 11 before you have a chance to file your lawsuit,
then they are protected from your valid claims of selling your privacy.
If it walks like a scam, sounds like a scam & smells like a scam...
....it's a scam!

| Hey guys,
Wow - the last thing we thought was that this would be classed as a
scam... We asked for a contact phone number so that we can actually
seperate time wasters from people who are genuinely interested in
getting involved, but in hindsight that wasn't a good idea and doesn't
make us look too good ...
You can check out our privacy policy at
http://www.businesms.com/2006/privacy.html
If you are actually interested in beta testing, please call us at the 1
866 number listed on our website http://www.businesms.com or drop us a
line via our contact form. You can also google our company to find out
that we are quite real and have been providing software development
tools into the community for a number of years now.

Does it matter what a company SAYS its privacy policy is?

They just want a phone number to talk with you.
That's not the same as your "contacts" file.
That aspect seems reasonable to me.
(I don't know about the project as a whole.)

businesms--
You have to give people credit for being wary, even if they articulate
harshly. At least you take from this how to launch a better approach
for garnering testers for future projects. Hope this site is successful
for you. Smiles.
