I wrote an interesting windows application that allows you to manage
the minutes included in your cell phone plan. It graphically displays
cellular phone usage to prevent unexpected overage charges. It can be
used by individuals, families, and small companies looking to save
money. Check it out.

You have to be kidding!

They want your cell # AND password for your Verizon acct. They profess to
do the exact same thing that Verizon does so why in the world would
ANYONE be dumb enough to fall for this scam?!

I understand your concern, but the program is not a scam. The idea is
to track one or more cellular accounts of the supported providers at a
glance. The program needs your cell # and password to connect to your
provider's site so that it can retrieve your cell usage. Feel free to
download a packet sniffer such as the one found at
http://www.ethereal.com (it is free) to see that the program's only
communication is to your cell provider. That said, I do use
Microsoft's One Click Deployment, which checks my server for updates
each time the application starts. I would ideally like to get some
type of security certification, but due to money and time issues, I
have not yet done so. Again, I understand your apprehensions about the
program's security and would appreciate any constructive ideas as to
how to alleviate your concerns.

It has nothing to do with the security of your program. You are an
unknown third party who wants to manage someones personal information.
How does anyone know what may happen to their information?

I would appreciate you giving it a try. I have spent allot of time and
effort developing the application and would greatly appreciate your
input. So far it is mostly used by my friends and family. They think
it is a good idea, but again they are my friends and family. I'm
hoping to sell it someday as a product, but for now I'm giving it away
as a beta product. Please contact me directly or via this group with
any comments or questions.
