Re: Home screen on Moto E815

| Just curious, when you go to:
Menu----Settings----Personalize----Home Screen-----Home Keys...
.....and scroll down to the choices for left and right soft keys...and hit
"change" to look at all the choices...
Do all the choices in the list all have the same lettercase setup?? ....Or
are they mixed up, for example...
Settings
CONTACTS
Shortcut
Like I said, just curious.

| Oddly enough, they all come up "Contacts".......first letter capitalized,
the rest lower case. I'm actually not too OCD, but I found this to be an
odd phenomenon of the right soft key choice. As I said, it wasn't like that
on my previous E815 and I think that's why I've noticed it so much on this
one. It came set with "Contacts" as the right soft key, so I thought I'd
"fake it out" and reset it, first choosing something else and then
re-choosing contacts, but it still came up "Contacts", eventhough all other
choices were in all cap's (visibly on the bottom right of the home screen).
Oddly enough, I wasn't able to set it as the left soft key, so I couldn't
"see" how it would show up over on that side. Kind of funny. Not really a
big deal. I was simply curious if anyone else had noticed this.
Sorry for the length :).

| My recommendation: take it back, something's screwy. I just checked my
options for the softkeys. There are exactly the same 31 options for the
right and left softkeys, and all of them are capped first letter, small
remainder. I can set anything on the list to either side, except it won't
let me duplicate (put the SAME option on both sides).
My software version is 8720_01.1E.00. which I believe is the most current. I
think you got a hacked refurb phone. Take it back. If they give you a hard
time, ask them to compare your softkey options list to one of their phones.
Unless they can show you a phone whose list options look like yours, your
phone is an oddball.

| Hey Dean,
Actually, I was wrong about something. I CAN put "Contacts" as my left soft
key (don't know why I thought I couldn't--brain fart?). However, it STILL
comes up as "Contacts".
I honestly think I was given a new handset. It is very tight, no cosmetic
flaws, and still had the screen protectors on it when it was handed over to
me. I HATE to take it back because it's such a hassle redoing my ringers,
speed dials, settings, etc. Now that I've admitted I <cough> made a mistake
as far as NOT being able to place contacts as the left soft key, do you
still think I should take it back?
Thanks so much!

| I'll be G-ddamned. Some of mine come up in all caps and some don't!!
Disregard the "hacked refurb" comment, my bad, I guess it's just phone
weirdness.
If your OCD is that bad, try Contacts on the left and Recent on the right. I
find I use Recent often enough to make it a soft key, and they both come up
Xxxxxx. Maybe you'll forget this after a while - - LOL.
Learn something every day.

| Thanks! Actually (and it isn't "OCD" as much as it is something different
from the past 7 months catching my eye as my old phone was all caps) I now
have settings on the left, shortcuts on the right and contacts as my "up"
choice. It is working fairly well. I just use my green phone key for
recent calls. Thanks to my new configuration, I have forgotten it already
(well, till I get on here :).
Take care.

I've noticed the capitalization differences - and I highly doubt it's
anything but a new phone. Let me explain...
About 4 weeks ago, I upgraded 3 of my Family Share lines to e815's.
They all came with the original software version installed. The word
contacts is in caps - "CONTACTS"
Last week I added a 4th line; another e815. When I took a look at it, I
noted that it had the updated version of the software - and the word
contacts was in lower case - "Contacts"
I thought it might be the updated software that accounted for the
difference. I went down and had my original 3 phones flashed to the new
software... and the upgrade took, but it didn't change "CONTACTS" to
"Contacts". Everything remained as it was.
I'm fairly certain that the 4th phone was brand new. (If I find out
otherwise, Verizon is going to have a bit of a problem on it's hands...)
Good Luck,
FPP
