| hi i just switched from sprint to verizon, there were few things i
could do with sprint phone that i can't figure out with a verizon
phone.
1. how can i check minute usage from a landline? when i check it with
my cell phone by pressing #646, do i get charged minutes for that?
2. when verizon send me notification msg, do i get charged for that,
since i get charged $.10 for every txt msg i send to friends.
that's it for now. TIA

| Yes to both it seems.
1) You call the 800 number for verizon, and it will prompt you for your 10
digit phone number, and then you will get an option for minutes of usage.
2) Yes, it seems! A friend, just yesterday, was being charged 10 cents each
for verizon initiated text messages. I thought they were supposed to be
free, but according to her, they weren't, and when she complained, they did
not offer her a different opinion. She disabled text messaging as a result.
I thought verizon messages (like minutes of use, your bill amount, etc) were
inbound free messages; but they said no. dr

If you call up the 800 number for customer service from a landline, and
enter your 10 digit phone number, one of the menu options will be to
check minutes of use.
And no, airtime will not be charged if you do #646 from you cell phone.

If you listen to the message when calling #646, it says "a free text
message with this information will automatically be sent to your
handset." So yes, the SMS sent from #646 will be free.

1) dial: # BAL (send) (current balance); # MIN (send) (minutes used since
last bill);# DATA (send)(tell's data usage)
All free calls. No charge re Verizon msg's.

And they fixed the family plan totals. If you let it play until the "press
something for Spanish" version you will get 2 messages, one with your
phones
totals and one with the family plan totals.

His question was "from a landline".

You gotta watch. They have one plan for unlimited texting between Verizon
people, and another for unlimited texting with just anyone of any carrier.
At least they had earlier this year when I signed up for the latter plan.
