Author Problem with xv6600's buttons while playing Tetris

I have Tetris on my xv6600. When I first open it, it plays ok for a couple
minutes, then the buttons that move the pieces stop working. If it pause it
for a minute or so, they work ok momentarily then stop working again. The
buttons work fine with all other applications.

Any ideas what's wrong? Is this a hardware or software issue?
