VX-8100 not 'data-capable'
|
|
|
| PhoneScoop comparison: http://tinyurl.com/p35ab
lists the VX-8100 as NOT 'Data-capable.' That term relates to the
ability to use the phone as a modem to connect a laptop to the
internet remotely.
This omission sounds odd, especially given that the 4400 *does* have
that capability. Can anyone confirm or deny?

From the actual URL (not sure what is in that tinyurl thing is, won't ever
click on one)
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=665
Data & Network
Packet Data Technology: 1xEV-DO r0
WAP / Web Browser Browser Software: Openwave 6.2.3
WAP 2.0
Looks like it is not only data capable, but has a built in browser and EVDO
capable too.

TinyURL just takes long URLs and maps them to something short, so
there's no linewrap. Then redirects you to the right place when you
click the shortcut. Pretty cool. Nothing weird, or I wouldn't use
them.
So...thanks for the link. I wonder why the PhoneScoop chart got it
wrong. Here's a regular link to a similar comparison. Not sure if
this will work, as again, the URL is very long:

Can't say why the phonescoop compare doesn't show the info properly (I see
it only showed a - instead of saying yes), but those tinyurl things can be
modified and point to anything, even viri's... If you want to paste a long
one into a usenet message just surround it with "<" and ">" signs (no
quotes), stops the line breaks.. (and the < >'s disappear, so you can just
click on it)
