How to change Verizon message greeting...
|

| Hey Gang:
Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere, I just subscribed to this
list. When you call someone's mail box to leave them a message, you
know that annoying computer that comes on after the persons voice and
says "to leave this person a voice mail, press 1. To page this person,
press 5. To mow this persons lawn, press 9. To use up more of this
persons expensive airtime and allow Verizon to bill them more, blah,
blah, blah..."
How do I disable that feature so all you hear when you call my phone is
"Hi, this is Ronnie, leave a message...beep."

Learn to search the archives of this newsgroup on Google groups, if
it's been posted before you'll find it there.
PS, I don't know how and since it doesn't bother me any, I'm too lazy
to search for you, sorry.

I don't think its a conspiracy to offer choices in a voice mail system.
And it doesn't cost anything for you since you don't hear that stuff
when retrieving voice mail. If you want to minimize time tell your
callers to press "*" as soon as voice mail answers which will
immediately give them them the recording prompt. That way they don't
even have to hear your greeting.

RTFM?? (Read The Fine Manual)

| I can't believe all the pompous self-absorbed replies you got to this
legitimate question. Well, okay, maybe I can. Sheesh!
Anyway, the best you can do is to shorten it somewhat, by configuring your
voicemail settings. You can do that by going into your voicemail, hitting 4
for Personal Options, 2 for Administrative Options, and 3 for Prompt level.
(I think I got that right, but you'll find it)
Sometimes this can vary depending on your specific VM system in your area,
however I *believe* that VZW has upgraded to the same VM system everywhere
now. Guess I could be wrong though.

| And are VERY lacking in info.
I have been quite disappointed in them.
So, in this case, RTFM may still leave unanswered questions.

Thank goodness, someone with an *actual answer* instead of some
lame sarcastic remark, LOL!

Lou has been answering questions in usenet since 1995 - several thousand by
now. RTFM is a valid answer.

| Lou comes off as a smug prick. 11 years of RTFM. What a major contributor.
All us losers need to tip our collective hats to him.
Yo Lou - put some clothes on, get out of your parents basement and get a
little fresh air for Godsake.
