What is the best VZW phone for the following:

1. Reception
2. Stability
3. Call Quality (sound quality and few dropped calls)
4. Internet browsing
5. Camera ... simple is fine (don't need 3MP ... I have a DSLR)
6. Text Messaging
7. Clam Shell

Tri-Mode is a plus, but pehaps I can work something out without it.

I won't be making any changes until at least November, but any current models
will have obvious successors in November, so this research should remain
mostly valid.

Thanks!

I have the Moto V276, a Tri-mode. It gets good marks from me on #s 1
through 3. I tether it to my laptop with a Mobile Office Kit, so I can't
give you any help on the browsing. I don't use the camera or text. It is
a clamshell and it has an extendable antenna.

In the world of electronics November is along way off.
Aren't 1 and 3 same thing? What is stability?

I use and recommend the Motorola E815. It's digital only, but I have
not found a need for analog in years. The E815 has all of what you want
above. It's screen is a large enough for Mobile Web.

The v325 would serve you well.

Especially "Stability".It's very stable in my hand.

No, not long off at all. I expect no new carrier technology (i.e. EVDO).
Reception is the ability of the phone to maintain a signal and stability is
referring to the phone hardware and software (does it just reboot? Does it
freeze or act funny?).

I'll buy that.

My v325 has been very stable in that regard.

The E815 is great, but I do get the occasional dropped call while walking
within a room and keeping a "full signal" by the bars.

It's happened in one other room (on a different level of my house) but the
phone doesn't "show" such a strong signal in that particular room.

It would be best to go with another cellular service provider. Pick the
provider that provides the best signal in your home.
