My DH lost the little retractable antenna on our Moto V276. The phone
seems to work just fine without it, but I'd like to get it replaced. We
don't have a "real" Verizon store near us, just a Kiosk at the mall.
There are a couple of "authorized dealers" around.

Are those the places to get another antenna or does one have to call
Verizon and have them send it?

TIA

Wow... losing an antenna on a cellphone is sort of like losing part of your
tounge to surgery... :) (that was meant as a joke janet :)

Seriously though, if you go by a real store/repair place on your travels,
worry about it then, and have them do it... while you could possibly DIY, it
usually takes very small tools, that most homeowners don't have handy, and
that cost an arm and a leg...

As long as it works in your area, seems like there is no rush to replace
it...

Pardon me if I don't appreciate the humor.

You can't just screw one in? Ugh, we will have to go to McAllen where
the big store is. Well it's a chance to do some shopping <g>

I can drag out the Wilson from the RV, but it would tether us.

Look online. They will have them everywhere and most
places include the tool. If you have an RV you will most
certainly be mechanically inclined enough to DIY.

Fraid it doesn't just screw in.. Takes opening the case (that's why you need
the little tiny screwdrivers), and the antenna goes on the inside, and stops
so it won't pull out of the top of the case, then you put the case back
together and screw it tight using those little teeny tiny drivers again.....
Again, you said it worked just fine at home without it, and will only be a
prob when you travel/are out of the area.. so I wouldn't worry about it at
the moment...

Well, even with a 5x5 signal, function won't be effected but
battery life will. Since transmission efficiency is greatly effected
by the antenna (or lack thereof) the tower will tell the phone
to turn up the power where it wouldn't otherwise. How much
of an effect? I don't know.

Antenna just screws right in, no tools required. You do not need to
open the case.

Strangely enough, I have the V265, I suspect that the V276 would be about
the same. The antenna just screws in.

Thanks. That's what I originally thought. It probably got lost because
it unscrewed itself.

Your model take's a screw in/out antenna.

Try www.yourwirelesssource.com

I've had decent performance from them.

Happened to me also and the same phone (I think).
I went to a Verizon phone store and they GAVE me a new one.
They agreed it should not just fall off.
The guy screwed it in very tightly. Makes me think the phones were not
made right.
Since you live in the sticks perhaps a call to VZ service number would get
one mailed.

Not made right because the antenna unscrewed? Wow.

I was the OP with the lost antenna. DH had it hanging off a pocket all
day while I was in surgery. He was a bit distracted to say the least.
I'm sure that with his getting up and down, it just fell off. I don't
think the phone was the major problem. It was a combo of things.

I'm not saying that there weren't mitigating factors. Just that the poster
'Lou@its.invalid' claimed 'Makes me think the phones were not made right.'
because the antenna unscrewed. I've had a half dozen unscrew on me, and had
I been as destracted as DH, I might have lost them as well. But unlike
Lou@its.invalid, I refuse to claim build quality as the primary cause.

I do not understand how a properly tightened antenna just falls off.
Since getting the new antenna I check it every so often and it has remained
completely tight. I never used the pull up feature of the antenna cause it
makes no difference in signal strength.
Please explain how an antenna just falls off.

I've had good results with the "pull up feature" (v325).Matter of fact the
extendable antenna was a requirement when I was looking for a replacement.

The "pull up feature?

Marketing jargon for extending the antenna? <g>
