I have a new Verizon plan we started last monday, I noticed on my LG
8300 phone (not all the time, but a pain) when I am talking I hear an
echoe sound of the words I say pretty loud, at first I thought there was
interference with some other two way radio nearby, but then I realized
it was my own voive echoeing. is there any settings to correct this, is
this a problem with the phone, am I doing something wrong or is it
possible I have a defective unit.

Since you only have 15 days I would assume the phone is bad and ask for a
new one.

I heard the echo for the first time yesterday and like you it seemed to
happen only on words spoken loudly. This has only happened once in the 2
weeks i've had it and so far not that big a deal for me.
Thus far i really like the 8300.

Three possibilities. One is a bad phone. Try to find someone with the same
model or maybe a verizon store will "loan" you one long enough to test it
out.
The second is a bad case of acoustic coupling. Since you mention that it is
only loudly spoken words, the next step is to find out if it only happens if
you call the same number or a variety of numbers. If it happens only on
calls where at least one party is using a speakerphone, then all bets are
off. Your voice out of the speaker comes back to the mike and back to you as
an echo.
The last potential cause is a bad echo canceller somewhere in the system.
It would be almost impossible for you to track down. You may not be able to
get Verizon Wireless to track it down.
If it's not freaking you out too much and is sporadic, then don't shout and
keep the phone.
