Hello. Does Verizon charge you if
you use your phone as a modem to
dial up to your ISP? Thanks in
advance.

I'm new in here but I believe you can DUN through your phone, it will use
your minutes, same as a phone call. However, if VzW detects a pattern which
indicates using phone as modem they will charge you for a data plan. So you
can do it, but keep it brief so it looks more like you are just surfing the
web on your phone. Unless your phone is EVDO the speeds will be pretty
slow.

Such calls are billed as voice minutes. They are also limited to 14.4
kbps. Pretty slow, but useable for email. I do it occasionally when I am
in an Extended Network area that supports data but not Quick 2 Net.

on in that you'll use minutes-of-use from your plan. and not even
that if you call during the 'free times'.

Minutes of use, just like voice. People do it all the time with a data
cable and Mobile Office Kit. I can't speak for using your cell phone
without the computer tethered. I just don't know of anyone who does that.
