Blackberry experiences?

I'm now looking into getting a Blackberry (possibly the 7130e) when my
contract expires. Anyone have real-world experiences they wish to share?
My main interests would be 1) phone-first; 2) web browsing
For web browsing, is it possible to configure the BB with a proxy server
of my choice instead of using Verizon's? If so, how do I gain access to
those setting?
Thanks.

Scott,
I had the 7130e on Verizon. It was indeed a good phone, as well as a
decent blackberry device. As for web browsing, I wasn't too fond of
doing that on the 7130, but then I'm tned to be very picking about my
web surfing experience and to tell you the truth, few smart devices have
really impressed me web-wise.

You're stuck using RIM's proxy server, unfortunately. Such is the
nature of Blackberry; just about everything goes through RIM.
