Any idea what happened here?

| Just got back from Florida last night, I was in Ft Laud for a week.
My e815 worked, as usual, flawlessly for the whole week.
I turned it off when the return flight began, as mandated, and turned it
back on shortly after landing at LaGuardia. I wasn't really paying attention
to the phone as it booted.
Some 15 minutes later, I tried to call the wife from the airport. Call
wouldn't go through...."Calling......" Never got the "Connected" indicator.
I figured it was some NYC rush hour circuit overload BS. Later, in the
'burbs, same deal. Phone didn't work all night.
This morning I fooled around with it a little. I noted that the "Network
Info" screen, instead of reading "SID: 22 Current: 22"
as usual, it read two five digit unknown numbers. By the way, I tried
turning the phone off and on, taking out the battery for a minute, etc. No
go. I even tried to call *228, 611, no good. Long story short, I found that
I could make the phone work by switching it to "Home Only".Worked fine that
way, but it bothered me, so I
called TechSupport. She had me do a "Master Reset" and it is now fine.
Just wondering what might have happened????

That actually is a possibility although I doubt the memory is
dense enough to be susceptable. Assuming those two values
are in separate locations hitting the same bit in both is highly
unlikely (astronomical :)). I'd put my money on plain old
software bug.

I'd put my money on some roaming system doing a forced PRL push on it....

No, but it might remove Sprint from the forbidden list?

When you come up to the checkout, ask someone if they saw
the INS agents carrying off 3 people from the store...
See how many illegals you can get to abandon their carts...

So... what does this have to do with the OP's question/problem?

| Hey, who knows, but the whole time I was away, I was never out of "Verizon
Wireless" native coverage. The phone was off while I was on the plane----the
whole time.

Man, you are dense. Let's say he roamed into ANOTHER COMPANY'S system and
it did some kind of PRL push replacing your buddy Verizon's PRL with
theirs. Theirs allows roaming to Sprint (or whatever other company, I
don't care). So, the guy gets home with a different PRL than he started
with, somehow....
You win, I give up....never mind...(sigh)

Every Verizon phone in every Verizon dead zone goes searching.....
On the other side of your living room, it may be going into non-native
coverage if it logs onto someone else's system. Verizon's coverage isn't
any more smooth than anyone else's, just because the map is colored in.
Who knows what it logged onto, now that they all tried to keep everything a
secret.....???

You should. You've been watching too much TV Larry.
Maybe 24? or The Net? Please tell us how a phone does
OTA? What does it use to connect to a particular network
to do that? What if more than one network is available?
Wouldn't most everybody have that problem? Oh... I forgot
there are rogue carriers out there which will try to hijack
customers by covertly hooking them up to different service?
Dense? I guess that's why I don't need a tin foil hat.

| I gotcha, Larry, it just don't seem to apply here.
I know I didn't say this in the OP, but I made a number of phone calls at Ft
Lauderdale airport right before turning off the phone. The next time it was
on was at LaGuardia in Queens NYC. I believe these are both pretty solid VZW
areas. I mean it's not like I flew over New Zealand with the phone on or
anything.....
I'm starting to think it's just electronic weirdness. Now that I think of
it, this is a cousin to something else that happened to this phone.
I was "roaming" (Extended Network, not "R"oaming) in Pennsylvania recently
after modifying my then-new 815 to disable EVDO. It read "1X" the whole
time. As soon as I returned to NY SID 22, the EVDO "re-enabled" itself.
Weird.
Hey BTW Larry, as a fellow hammer, you DO know what radio guys say FM stands
for, don'tcha?

You don't have to worry about EVDO in SC.....none available. Cellphone
internet is as slow as a mule on a hot day.
