I have never received any spam on my vzw phone. Do you give out your
number a lot?
| |
|
| I have never received spam on my Verizon phone. The only
messages I received in my phone are from my servers, my
friends, and some free messages from Verizon Wireless.
Thanks for the info, anyway.

Like the other two posters, I never got a single spam message (outside
a couple of free ones from VZW) on my phone the entire time I was with
VZW. It sounds like you gave your number out too freely.
BTW, "online petitions" aren't worth the paper they aren't printed on.

I got a bunch of them over about a 2 week period a year ago in Spanish.
A number of friends were getting the same. One time my buddy was
standing next to me me and his phone alerted at the same time. And you
don't have to give your number to anyone to get SPAM because SPAMMERS
work there way sequentially thru possible combinations.

I never mentioned not wanting text messages. I don't want SPAM
especially if I have to pay for it.

Then don't buy it. SPAM is a meat-based product owned by Hormel.

I'm with Bobby. What's the big deal anyway? Didn't I read in another thread
that Verizon sued those spammers and won? What more do the petitioners want
them to do?
I see the original message came from somebody at Harvard. I went to That Other
College down in Connecticut, and we don't pay much attention to what Harvard
folks do or think. ;^)

Verizon sued some spammers and won.

Give their customers the capability of defining a set list of source
email address which they will accept Internet-to-SMS messages from.
Their current "feature" of allowing users to define X number of
addresses they will not accept messages is as useless now as they day
they implemented it.
Give their customers the ability to turn off or on SMS messages sent via
VZW's web-based SMS system. I would prefer not receive messages sent
that way. I haven't received any spam via that medium, but I do receive
misdirected messages (seven this week alone...which judging from their
content, seem to be from the same person. There's no way to contact the
sender of such messages as they display as being sent to me from me.

| Just as an FYI,
If you are receiving spam sms give a call to VZW customer service
at 800-922-0204 or free on your cell phone at *611 and ask them to give
credit for these spam messages. If they give you any trouble just ask
them to look at their policy on sms reguarding spam messages. A rep
helpled me with this in the past. They also were able to get the spam
messages to stop.

Since I have unlimited messaging calling in for a credit serves no
purpose.
When I didn't have unlimited messaging, I did call in for credits on
unsolicited messages...but I shouldn't have had to in the first place.
VZW should be giving its customers proper anti-spam tools like clued
ISP's do for their customers and like I do for my clients on the email
servers I admin.
