Ok so I had cingular and bought mobile phone tools and got to transfer
files from my pc to my phone and vice versa. Now I changed to verizon
and bought the latest version of mpt and someone told me you have to
flash the phone so it can transfer files. Is this true? And if it is
what are the pros and cons? And also can someone point me in a
direction of a tutorial and what program I should use?

Thank you

Take a look at a free program BITPIM (for both Mac and PC I think).

I have a verizon phone with a removeable Micro SD flash card. I take it
out and use an adapter in the flash cardreader and it is possible to
see all your photos and flix etc, edit them and save them so that the
edited version is visible on the cell phone. Since it is a 1GB card I
have set up the cell phone to save all photos etc on the card instead
of internally.

Unfortunately the phonebook and ring tones etc cannot be stored on the
card. That is where BITPIM comes in. It requires a simple phone to USB
cable that you can buy fairly cheaply.

You can also put MP3 files from your computer onto the card. Then go to
the secret SERVICES setup menu on the phone and turn the cool MP3
player ON. It is OFF by default. To do this press OK then 000000 as
the password. Then choose music settings. Then MP3 enable. Voila.

Thanks!! well I tried that BITPIM before and it won't read my phone. I
have the razor phone which I know I shouldn't have gotten again, but
anyways like I said I tried that BITPIM but for some reason it would
not read my phone.

Do you have the latest version?

0.9.05 Official is the latest version.
I have also noticed that changing usb ports sometimes resolves issues
with usb devices.

Good luck !!!

There is a V 9.05 BTW...

Bitpim isn't all that Moto friendly.
It will not autosense the comm port. This is where most have problems.

If you set it up manually (edit/settings), it will work. Go to device manager and
note the comm port your phone is using first.

Also, the only thing you can do is file system.
All the other stuff doesn't work. Or hasn't in the past anyway (on a Moto).
