Another funny verizon trick.

| Another trick verizon pulled on a friend today. My friend has a treo
700P with text message plan. He also has the block of pictures plan.
He gets his bill today and there charging by the transfer rate for his
pictures. When calling C/S they said it was because he has a treo. He
told them why would it matter what phone he had, as long as he does not
send more then his plan allows for. They told him it's a pda so it
transfers another way. He does not surf the web on it ever. That part is
turned off.
Another Verizon Bull Shit tactic. Like the "Unlimited data plan" But use
it too much and they can force you out. But the plan is Unlimited.
Less then a month to go and good bye verizon after something like 12 yrs
Can't wait.

True, but to be fair, important elements of the TOS are not made
apparent in typical consumer offerings; these are instead buried in
the contract. In my opinion, the laws regarding disclosure should be
revised.
Alongside the advertised product or service, should be the relevant
terms that govern its' acceptable use; in print size no smaller than
1/4 that of the offering.
Similar consumer protections were enacted in the 70's and have been
slowly eroded since.

Where does it list in the contract that you must surf the web just
because you have a PDA device ?
Also, Where does it say "You have a PDA Device, You must pay us big
bucks to transfer pictures even though you have a picture transfer
package" But because you own a PDA we can charge you more ?
Where on the contract does it say your in a "Unlimited data plan" But if
you use over the Unlimited amount of data we can give you the boot ?

This entire discussion is idiotic. You're telling us what supposedly
Verizon told someone else. Your questions make no sense. I just took a
look at the contract terms for "unlimited data," and there are a host of
restrictions that are clearly referred to by a big asterisk after the
term "unlimited data usage." I'm not going to repeat them here. Took me
twenty seconds to find it.

"Unlimited ACCESS", not unlimited. Fooled me, too. Unlimited ACCESS
means you can access it anywhere, 24/7....as long as you don't USE it too

It does transfer differently, and slower. My friend and I tried it last
week. I have a Moto 710 and he has a Treo. We both sent the same pic to the
same email address. His took 2 mins. and mine took like 10 secs. Both were
received by email and both had the same res. pic.

I'm not sure I would call it buried. People say "fine print" as if it's a
crime. I find it curious that adults, before making a two year financial
commitment, find it too much trouble to look at the details of what they're
comitting to. It's the basic vicitmazation complex in this country where
no one takes responsibility -- everything is someone else's fault DESPITE
the fact that the problem was 100% avoidable by the "victim."

I see 2 major problems with a good number of today's contracts:
- Their verbiage is such, that only one with a legal background fully understands
all the details.
- They're of such length that, even with the above mentioned background, most
consumers don't take (or have) the time to read them in entirety.

But, alas, too many people were doing that so the companies had to put a
stop to it and only energize the phones they sell at outrageous
prices...or else you don't get service on the public airwaves.

for it when they knew he would never be able to use it because of his phone.
So the fine print of the contract will tell you which of the features you
are going to be charged for you can actually use.
Good Deal??? If you have a plan with 7,000 minutes, Free nights &
weekends - for only ten dollars more per month you can double your minutes.

Verizon can't explain to him about getting the pic plan. It's on there.
He got charged, But they also added another 30.00 on his monthly fee.
The guy that sold it to him called the rep explained things and verizon
let him out without a ETF.
He also said there is nothing telling anyone about this if you go to the
website and add a PDA to a already current plan, and then add the
picture plan.
If doing this on the Internet, How would anyone know ? You would just
think your swaping out a phone, and then add your picture plan.
Doing it on there Internet site would mean your not seeing a contract
that says you cant do it. Or is there ? I don't know, I've never done it
on there web site.
10/22/06 = Out of contract. :) Can't wait.

IS EVDO turned on one and not the other ? I don't see how this could
happen if they both have evdo turned off. We don't have EVDO In this
area. How can one transfer faster then the other ?

Verizon Wireless in your town, the main headshed.....
Bring a friend who can testify in your behalf as a live witness to what
is said to you. Have him appear uninterested and just standing by, but
within full earshot of every promise and answer to all your questions.
Of course, trying to sell you something, they promise you the moon, which
isn't a deliverable at Verizon Wireless...

That's true in general, but the problem thar the original poster
complained about involved language that was clear and easy to find.
