| May I recommend that a shout out is in order when Rev A pops up in an area?
Seattle as of today is Rev A.

That's all fine..but which cards will do Rev.A???
I hope its better than the EVDO in the Los Angeles area. It drops back to
1XRTT a lot..then refuses to shift back to EVDO. When I XXXXX to Verizon
about it, I get a kind I-Mail telling how to dial *228 to update the card
(seriously) Their customer service is seriously XXXXed up.
The system now bogs down during certain hours, SLOW throughput. If EVDO is
this screwed up in LA..what kind of hope is there for Rev. A??
I am tempted to try Sprint's Rev A. Datacard, except Sprint is known for
shitty 1900Mhz coverage in the Southern California area.

| Sierrawireless 595 currently.
Soon to be a USB device.
I'm sure more cards to follow

: Seattle as of today is Rev A.
And what might be the meaning of that enigmatic pronouncement? Has Seattle
finally opened its new heavy-rail subway system? Are the Fishhawks going to
the Superbowl? Has Bill Gates sold his estate and moved to Pitcairn Island?
Has the sun shined for three consecutive days? Enquiring minds want to know.

| This is a VZW newsgroup.
EVDO is a VZW service.
Rev A is a newer faster and better version of EVDO.
The availability of this new service is of interest to many....
Maybe here??? Since it is a VZW newsgroup?

Well, that explains it, I guess. Who knew what "Rev A" was? I've been a VzW
customer since it was Bell Atlantic, and I don't remember them ever mentioning
it. Me, I'm just looking to turn off EVDO to make the battery last longer
between charges. :^)

| Maybe too teckkie???
It's really good news for some of us...
1xEV-DO Rev. A
Currently being commercially deployed (thus my post) in the United States
by Sprint and Verizon Wireless. Rev. A offers fast packet establishment
on both the forward and reverse links along with air interface
enhancements that reduce latency and improve data rates. In addition
to the increase in the maximum downlink (forward link) data rate from
2.4576 Mb/s in Rev. 0 to 3.1 Mb/s, Rev. A has a 12-times improvement
in the maximum uplink (reverse link) data rate, from .15 Mb/s to 1.8 Mb/s.
EV-DO Rev. A supports low latency services (as low as 50ms) including
VoIP and Video Telephony on the same carrier with traditional Internet
packet data services. EV-DO Rev. A air-interface latency specifications
have not been published, however several Qualcomm documents note
latency in the "low double digit" range with the highest RSVP settings.
50ms latency is claimed to be possible. This compares favorably with
Release 0 air-interface latencies of 150-200 ms.
