There's a charge for data over EVDO????
Why, then, do they advertise it at $59.99 a month unlimited??
Subject, of course, to the same warning about if you accumulate more
than 5GB of usage they may shut you down. And the only people using
5GB per month are pimply-faced teenagers down/uploading videos of
themselves jerking off.

Read your next sentence...

The "unlimited" part of it was dropped a while ago (after a court battle)

I just checked my plan and talked with Verizon. I then talked with an
independent Verizon reseller who cuts through the crap one sometimes
hears from Verizon reps.
I use a Verizon EVDO connection via a USB720 modem and a Kyocera KR-1
router as my main Internet connection from my home -- which is in a
deep rural area. I am charged $59.99 a month no matter how much
bandwidth I use. The only exception is that Verizon says they may cut
off an account that uses over 5GB per month. The independent reseller
to whom I talked said, well, yes, he is aware of this limit but he
doesn't know anyone who has been cut off. My last month's usage as
1.1GB -- and that was heavy because of a major edit to one of the four
websites I maintain.
So -- maybe Verizon was forced to eliminate the word "unlimited" but
it seems to me that the $59.99 a month is, essentially, unlimited.
Of course, if you up/download lots of music, video, and the like,
that's another story.
