| Forgive me if this was covered (I think I remember seeing it here),
but I want to try to get an answer within the next couple of days.
I wavered for the past couple of weeks between the vx8600 and the v3m. I
really wanted to go for the 8600, but two things killed it for me;
1/ No repeating missed call beep. What would it have cost LG to offer the
OPTION of a missed call beep?....and;
2/ I could swear I saw a post that you can't use the 8600 while it's
on charge. I can hardly believe that a manufacturer would do something that
dumb. Was I dreaming when I thought I saw this? If it's true, what were they
thinking?
I was almost willing to live with #1 (ALMOST), then I thought I read #2
somewhere. That killed it, and I ordered the Razr. I know close to 10 people
who have them, and the only one who complains about it is a lady who
complains about EVERYTHING.
Could someone who actually owns a VX8600 let me know if the above statements
are definitely true? I could always send the v3m back.....
Thanks.

| I have the 8600 and yes it does say that in the manual, dont use while
charging, my thinking is why, I charge mine at night, battery life is good
for at least 2 days, I turn it off at night, so its good for 2 days, 3 if I
push it and use it a lot, and with the charge port on the side, it may be
difficult to use while charging, also its a little plug, if bumped while
charging, it may break off or shorrt out...also there is a extend life
battery for it, should give 4 or more days I bet, its a good phone to me,
and not every one has one yet, unlike the razor, was the main reason I went
with it, been seeing too many razors out there, wanted something different.

| My experience: YES to No. 1.
No. 2: I use VZ Navigator a lot and they advise leaving the unit
charging while using the Navigator because the display is on
continuously.
My habit is charge the unit often before it gets nervously low. Not
advisable? I'd like to know.

| Well, I dont use the nav function, no since paying for it when I have a GPS
maping system on my laptop, and I am going to look at the extended life
battery for mine, I got used to the bat on my old LG 6100, I could go a week
without recharging, but it did not have bluetooth or MP3 on it, and was not
as slim, or cool looking :) guess you got to give up to get.
So I charge mine up every other day, turning it off at night.

| I spend quite a few weekends away from home, and the cellphone is obviously
my primary contact when I'm away.
No way am I going to give up contact for 7-8 hours a night (while it charges
and I sleep) just because of a cellphone's limitations, and after having a
cellphone for 12-13 years, I can say I've never had to own a spare battery,
not even with analog phones, and I'm not gonna start now.
Thanks.

| Well the recharge time is pretty short, if not fully discharged, will
recharge less then 4 hours, or even less, even fully down, wont take 8 hours
to recharge, maybe not even 5, never timed it, I just plug it in and let it
go, check it later.

| Even if it's 3 hours, if I plug it in when I lay down to go to sleep in a
hotel room, not gonna get up in three hours to unplug the phone and turn it
on to check for emergency messages I may have missed because my phone won't
operate AND charge at the same time....
Got my Razr today. Nice phone so far. And I know it has the missed call beep
and will work while charging, so I guess the deal is done.....unless I don't
like it in 14 days!!!!

| Hey Dean,
I have a VX8600 and love it! To answer your questions. #1 I am not
sure about the missed call beep. #2 is false you can use your phone
while on the charger.

LG makes good phones, and I would have gotten the 8300 some time ago -
if it had a missed call beep. But it doesn't, and I that was a deal
breaker for me. I absolutely don't understand why LG doesn't offer
this setting as a setting option. Just can't figure out what they are
thinking.
Does ANY company besides Moto offer a missed call beep?
