Author Voice Command for checking voicemail

How do you get voicemail checked using Voice Command? I tried
"voicemail", "call voicemail", and "check voicemail". The first two were
unrecognized and the last caused random things to happen.

Make a contact entry under whatever "name" you want and for the number
enter *86, a two second pause and your voicemail passcode. When you
call "name", the phone will call your voicemail and automatically enter
your passcode for you.

If you're paranoid, and don't want your passcode stored on the phone,
you will have to enter it manually. Or have you considered that?

You wave your magic wand and proclaim, "Oh mighty lords of the Voice
Command, I summon you to bring forth my voicemail!"

Use the same magic wand you wanted us to use to figure out which phone
you might be talking about.

I thought of that, but the contact editor won't t let me enter commas
for the pause.

I'm embarrassed. I was thinking I had said, but that was in the other
message I had posted here.

It's a Treo 700W.

The new interface uses "P" for "pause".

The Treo won't take P either.

Forget the voicemail in your phone and call yourself off a voiceprompted
regular phonebook number with the word "voicemail" as the programmed
voice prompt to voice dial it, like any other voice propted call.

Let's pretend my number is 333-222.1111 and my password is 567890

So, I enter a new phonebook number with several pauses in it to give the
system time to say "Please enter your security code" and start listening
for my DTMF tones for the passcode. Mine looks like

3332221111pp567890pp
p1

It works every time on Alltel's system, from anyplace because I'm dialing
my number with my area code, too. Two pauses in the dialing cause my
motorola phones to dial 3332221111 to the switch like any normal call,
then the phone switches to DTMF signalling during the pauses and
generates the tone sequence for 567890 to satisfy the needs of the
voicemail bureaucrats, who should already know its me by my ESN, but
that's not connected right to the voicemail system box. After 3 more
pauses for the voicemail system to start reading me the menu options, a
single DTMF 1 outputs, automatically, causing Alltel's voicemail system
to start playing my voicemails without touching a button.

I entered the voice prompt "voicemail", in my voice in a QUIET location
when recording prompts, please, and, to the delight of everyone at any
table I'm with, my phone even dials my passcode itself and I get my
voicemails after that last 1 is sent to it.

If I used the software voicemail autodialer, I have to enter my passcode
and such MANUALLY....(shudder).... That's for "commoners"...(c;

What pisses me off is the stupid phone doesn't CONSTANTLY monitor its mic
waiting for me to say "Stupid Cellphone"....instead of having to press
the voice prompt button.

I don't like to press 1 for English, either......damn them!

A good idea if you don't want Wife 1.0 to hear Girlfriend 2.2 whispering
in your ear on the voicemail box....(c; You might become DEAD 4.21beta.

Larry

Someone I knew had a popup come up on his laptop every X minutes that
said:

"Girlfriend 2.2 has been upgraded to Girlfriend 2.3
Click here to receive this upgrade"

Of course it was a joke, but great fun as people looked over his shoulder
at the office. I knew it was bogus because he'd just broken up with
Girlfriend 12.9.2d Build 4821. Her kernel had a bug in it that reset her
during orgasms, loosing lots of data as she did a hard shut down before
Boyfriend 2.6's program completed its data transmission to Girlfriend's
serial port.

Very frustrating, indeed.
Boyfriend's screen wasn't the only thing that turned BLUE!

Don't enter a comma, don't enter a P, don't enter a T (used on some LG
phones too). Instead, hit the button to change the entry style and select
2-sec Pause. The phone will enter the correct symbol for you.

How do you do a 2 second pause?

I don't understand what you mean by "the button to change the entry
style". Pressing the Option button doesn't do anything special, pressing
Alt does nothing, and clicking the entry method icon at the bottom
center of the screen doesn't reveal anything like a 2-second pause option.

O.K. That's a new approach. No one has mentioned the "#" sign so far.
Is that a regular # or a special character that the phone shows as a
"#"? IOW - is it like the phone showing a "p" for the special
character "pause"?

It's the "pound" key. It's the same as if you called the
regular voice mail number ("star" 86) and then manually
entered the "pound" sign and your password.

The "p" puts in a 2-second pause, so that the password is
entered during the opening message. You may have to
experiment with the number of "p"s you have. If the
password is entered too quickly, it won't "take."

works from ANY system it will connect to as you're calling your own cell

Burt's Cellular and Tire in Grover's Hollow.

(If you dial 611 on Burt's system, say hello to Mary Jane, his wife, for

Good point. Except don't forget the "pound" sign # which
takes you out of the outgoing message announcement and into
the voice mail prompts.

Nice! I just configured my E815 to do that as well. Anything to take a
step or two out of getting my VM.
