sorry, but did you not read my post? Charger is putting out 5.9V, which
is 'according to the label' Thanks

Read it just fine. I've heard this all to many times. My friend works in
a cell store. The owner is a ex Motorola service tech. Chargers that
work don't work with other phones and battery combos. But they work with
other phones. etc. A charger can work just fine. A lot of problems get
fixed with the simple reboot.

The main point of his post was to reboot. Sounded like an excellent
suggestion.

When we exchanged batteries, the bat from my phone was uninstalled for
more than 1 min. I supposed I should have said I know about the
'reboot' sequence. 1 min/10min/30min, makes no difference, it will not
accept the power-On command. Here is how naive I am: Called Vz store
and asked if there was a tech person who could figure out the problem.
Yes there was, so I went to the store. The 'tech' did less than my
neighbor and I did to check the phone. lol For some reason I actually
thought the tech person would know something. Anyway, it was a very
frustrating/normal Vz store experience, and I'm getting a FRU e815 (no
charge). I'm not a fan of anything FRU'ed, so I'm taking my phone to a
real repair place in Austin where it will be checked out. I appreciate
the advice. Thanks!

That was my guess. I'd mash the button and wiggle my finger, trying to get
it to connect electrically.

Yeah well, that was my thinking too, but mashing/wiggling/anything,
gave...no joy.
The place I had check the phone is in the business of repairing
cell-phones. Had it been fixable, they would have made money, but the
tech said it wasn't, so they didn't. I received my new (frue'd) 815
yesterday. It activated and turned On (using my battery) Joy all over!
