Author Anybody Get SPAM From Verizon Wireless Recently?

I got 2 identical spamms from Verizon Wireless last night within the
space of a half hour, inviting me ‘try out’ their network

I’m already a loyal Verizon customer (landline, cellular and wireless
broadband) so one might think they’d avoid the potential ill will by
excluding existing customers from such mailings.

What bothers me the most however, is that these were sent to an email
address they are *not* supposed to have. It’s not the address I have
registered at their web site(s), or one that I ever give out. No
matter how they obtained it, it was gotten surreptitiously.

I’m writing a formal complaint about this to the CEO. I invite others
to do the same:

Lowell McAdam, President
Verizon Wireless Communications
One Verizon Way
Basking Ridge, NJ 07920
(908) 559-5401
(212) 395-2121

Are you sure the email is from VZ Wireless? Sounds more like a
spammer. Post the headers and someone can advise you (hide your email
address, it's not needed).

You sure it isn't a VZW reseller?

I examined the header in detail before concluding it was from Verizon.
See enclosed.

Not only that; as the original poster stated I received it twice to the
same email address I use for Verizon Wireless to notify me of my payment
being received etc. Sending to an existing customer however is kind of
stupid.

They did not however send any as a text message, which I would have been far
more angry about.

Humm.. when you put in your e-mail on the contract was there a box to
check for 'do/don't send me stuff to this e-mail' ?

Or perhaps you can change those options on-line ?

Then how were they to know that the ads were going to the "loyal Verizon
customer"? The fact that you did not receive the ad to the address that
you *do* have registered sort of suggests that they *did* exclude
existing customers.

Nice goin', Tiff(any)

I never receive spam on my registered address. Verizon's opt out
checkbox works. (At least after registering with 'My Account'.)

That should be 'Verizon spam'.

I got the same spam the original poster did (2 copies in fact) delivered
to the email address I have registered with Verizon, even though I
also have Verizon's opt-out checkbox checked. I don't know where the
emailer got their address list, but they don't seem to have excluded
known Verizon customers.
