Problems with WMAs on the MicroSD card

| I am having a problem. I have transferred about 400 mbs worth of songs
in WMA format onto my phone, but they won't play. I have a 1 gb
MicroSD card that I just got a few weeks ago. Before I had had a 256
mb card that I didn't have this problem with. Anyway, when I first
transfer the songs they work just fine. But then when I try to access
them later from the music player both when the phone is open and also
from the outside controls, the phone freezes up for a few minutes and
then says Player Error: Music not available. When I go to the memory
settings and check the card usage, it takes a while to come up and
then says that the Total Used is 0 kb and the Available is also 0 kb.
But then when I go to My Music in the memory options, all of the songs
that I put on the card are there. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm guessing your phone is a DynaTAC 8000X, and so it's too old to accept
a MicroSD card or play music.

Did you format the sd card before you sync the device with the
computer?
You have to remember to format first.

| Ok, to answer all the questions, my phone is an LG VX8300 (sorry, I
should have mentioned that to begin with), yes I have formatted it a
few times and tried the same procedure, only to have the same thing
happen, and yes, the 256 mb card still works. I formatted the card,
and just for safe measure, converted the music that I wanted from mp3
to WMA on my computer, and then did the whole transfer again. Same
thing, it worked to begin with, but when I tried to today, it did the
same thing, with the memory usage coming up as 0 but the songs showing
up under my music, but I can't play them. Oh, and I don't know if this
matters, but it seems like this happens when I shut my phone off and
turn it back on, especially after a long time period. I shut my phone
off when I go to bed, and when I woke up today that's when I tried it
again and the problem happened again. Anyway, I don't know if this
means it's a problem with the phone or the card. Does anyone know what
is happening?

Perhaps the card isn't seated properly in the phone. Try removing it
and re-inserting it and see if that helps.

| When you converted to WMA, did you check the DRM box by mistake? Sounds like
you might be missing a DRM playback component on your card. I think (been so
long I don't remember) DRM is enabled by default when you rip a CD; maybe
when you convert an MP3? Your wma library needs to have a small license file
(very small) with it for encrypted stuff. You do not need this if you
disabled DRM when you rippped. If you think this is the case, try to convert
some mp3 tracks to WMA making sure the DRM box is "off".
