I'd have just assigned that number a silent ringtone so I wouldn't have
to bother with it and let them call to their hearts' content. Seems
easier than telling all of my contacts that I have a new number.

I have an old lady here in town that can't seem to figure out how to dial
whatever number it is she's trying to dial. She keeps dialing my home number
& since when I'm on the road (70-80% of the time) I have my home line
forward my calls to my cell I get these call several times a week. I did the
same thing, assign a no ring to her ID. I went one step further & assigned
her ID a "ringback tone" telling her how annoying she is. She still calls
once in a while, but the phone doesn't ring very long(it stills rings
through on my BT headset).

Several years ago (pre-cellphone days), while living in a medium sized city,
I used to get a lot of calls from an old lady asking for a particular
person. To protect the innocent, we'll say his name was John Smith, but in
fact it was kind of an unusual name; online phone directories currently show
only one person by that name in the entire country. Eventually I decided to
get an unlisted number, and then a few years later I moved out of that city.
Many years after that, I happened to be in a store in that city, and the
boss was talking with someone and identified himself as John Smith (same
name as the person whose phone calls I had been getting). I thought of
telling him about all those phone calls I had gotten, but upon further
consideration, I decided to maintain my low profile and say nothing.

Getting back to Kenya ... you can't really count on Caller-ID. There are
various Caller-ID spoofing services that let you put whatever Caller ID you
want on your call. Maybe someone is stalking you? I'd suggest setting a
ringback tone of either a busy signal or a "This number has been
disconnected" message. If it were me, I'd probably use something like
http://www.dmine.com/phworld/sounds...e/xbar/nsn2.mp3 , but there
probably aren't many people who remember that one.

That's what makes call block service from my land line provider so
nice.;-)
